Thankfully, there are some nice inland resorts with nice pools within the city. One of the choices is Emar's Wavepool in Matina.
I finally had the chance to visit this place because my friends Doris and John celebrated their birthdays here. So I tagged my bebe along because I knew she would definitely enjoy the experience.
Overall, the place is pretty cool because they have lots of different pools. They have shallow pools with slides for the kids, deeper pool for adults, and of course the wave pool. I also find the design of the pools quite unique. I also love that there is a nice view of the beach and the Samal Island across the sea. Another thing I liked are the statue decorations which are perfect backdrops for photo ops.
What I don't appreciate about the resort is the over commercialism. Entrance fee per person is PhP200.00 each. It may be a reasonable price but it really isn't because it is not inclusive of table/cottage. Also, PhP200.00 entrance fee is for all ages (yes, all ages as long as you are 3 feet and above). It's too expensive for children below 10 years old.
Another dislike is the corkage fee of PhP200 on all kinds of food and another corkage fee for the soft drinks. You would understand the corkage fee for the drinks as that is common practice for almost all resorts. However, I don't understand why they charge for the food. Most resorts only charge corkage fee for Roast Pig, Cow or Tuna.
Lastly, the cabana type cottage costs PhP500.00.

I would probably go back to Emar's if someone invites me again but I won't be bringing in any food or drinks.
