Before sailing to San Victor Island and after enjoying the simple beauty of the Campawan Curtain Falls, the husband and I went for a quick refreshing dip at Lake Carolina.
The drive to the lake is easy as the road is cemented and the lake is located just a few meters from the highway. You won't get lost as there is a visible signage by the roadside. You will be greeted by the caretaker as you enter to collect the entrance fee.
There is enough space for parking so your vehicle is safe and secured.
Also, there are a number of cottages to rent if you need one but you can
also just look for a shaded place to put your belongings if you didn't
bring too much (just be sure not to put it on the muddy ground). There
is also a bathroom and surprisingly, it was clean, has a small drum
filled with water and pretty much well maintained. However, there is no
light in the bathroom so it may be difficult to get dressed when it's already dark
and there is no water line so I am not sure what happens when the drum
is emptied out.
Update 4/18/2019: The bathroom has no faucet and there is only a drum of water outside/near the door. When we were there on holy week, the place was packed with tourists. I noticed the bathroom ran out of water and there was no maintenance so it was dirty. It was sort of expected considering the number of tourists that time and the lack of water connections.
Apart from the minor details that I could pick on, this place is still absolutely worth the visit. The water of the lake is cold, somehow clear, and a little salty. People say that this isn't really a lake as the water comes from the sea so there will be low tide and high tide in this place. Despite that, swimming there is still very refreshing. The abundance of trees that surrounds the entire lake gives off a cool breeze and adds to the lake's pristine picturesque view.
