It is not a secret that I love the waters, be it the beach, lakes, or waterfalls. So when the husband and I have the chance to go on a long road trip to the eastern region of Mindanao, I did not waste the opportunity to visit Campawan Curtain Falls.

The falls wasn't at it's full grandeur probably because it did not rain the previous day.

It is said that the place got it's name because the drop of water on the falls resembles that of a curtain. People say it is reminiscent of the famous Tinuy-an Falls of Surigao but only smaller.

The Curtain Falls behind the boulders of rocks.

The trail you have to take to reach the Curtain Falls

I don't know what this building is for because we didn't find any tourism staff or in-charge in there. The people seen in the photo are the locals that collects the parking fee.

What attracted me most about this place is it's simplicity. It didn't look really grand and regal like the Tinuy-an but it gave off a certain mystic vibe. I also appreciated that this place is a little out of the way which meant it won't be flocked by lots of people (sorry I feel greedy when it comes to beautiful places such as the Curtain Falls).

Another thing I liked is that I didn't need to be extremely fit to get to the falls (sorry I don't exercise). The hike going to the falls is only short and maneuvering over boulders of rocks is not much of a problem even if it's your first time. The climb is not very steep and is pretty forgiving for lazy people like me.

Our guide, Angel.

The water is cold and very refreshing that the husband just couldn't let the chance to pass. Even if we had no plans of staying there for too long, he still squeezed in few minutes to dip in the cold water and enjoy the falling water.

Rates and Fees:
Parking Fee - P10 for motorcycle (I have not asked how much for 4 wheel vehicles)
Entrance Fee - P10
Cottage Rental - P100

Travel Tip: The road going to the falls is a rough road and there are no signage leading to the falls. Download the directions to Campawan Curtain Falls in advance as there is poor to no signal in the area. Ask the locals for directions if you do not feel confident. Looking at the map, when you reach the area in red box, do not turn right as Google Maps suggests (that's what we did and we made the wrong turn). Instead take the left turn and just follow the rough road and you will reach the end of the road. You will know you have arrived because you will see a green reception building with the sign "Campawan Curtain Falls".

P.S. Please do not forget to tip the children who will guide you going to the falls. It will be very helpful to them as most of them are school children doing extra work on weekends or during school breaks.
